This is the first phase of an exciting project that will reroute about 1.2 miles of the Green Circle from a sidewalk to a scenic corridor along the Wisconsin River on the former Whiting Paper Mill land (west side of Whiting Rd). We hope to have the new route completed by Fall of 2018.
Trail detour in Village of Whiting
A section of Green Circle trail will be closed in the Village of Whiting, Mondays-Thursdays from August 21 to September 7 for utility work. Please follow signs along Tommy’s Turnpike to detour this section. Note, the trail will remain open on the weekends.

New website
Welcome to the new Green Circle website! We value your feedback. If you have questions or find something that doesn’t work, please let us know.
New kiosk in Zenoff Park
A new Green Circle kiosk is being constructed in Zenoff Park at the southeast corner of the parking lot. Mark Check, stone mason, is constructing the base out of local stone and bricks, some from the historic Langenberg brickyard for which the Brickyard Trail is named.
Current Trail Conditions
Thanks to the hard work of the Stevens Point and Portage County Parks crews, all sections of the Green Circle Trail are now open for use again after major flooding this spring. Some areas may still be soggy, so please use caution when out on the trail.
A portion of the Plover River Trail remains closed due to the construction of the Plover River Crossing trail spur. Please follow the detour along Barbara’s Lane.
