From September 26-29, a red pine plantation along the River Pines Trail north of County HH will be thinned as part of a planned harvest. The trail will remain open, but please use caution and follow all signage in the area.

Slumberland Furniture gift
Mary Hesch, local owner of Slumberland Furniture stores in Stevens Point, Wausau and Marshfield, has donated $10,000 to the Green Circle. The gift is the one largest private donations to the 27-mile scenic hiking and biking trail. Click here to read more.
Stevens Point roundabout
The new Stevens Point roundabout at Division St./Business 51 and North Point Drive is now completed. The Green Circle crosses the roundabout on its north and east sides (see photo). Users will cross two lanes of oncoming traffic to a safety island, and then cross two lanes of outgoing traffic. Visit the Wisconsin DOT website at for more information about safely crossing roundabouts.
Bridge closed on Brickyard Section
A short bridge on the Brickyard Section of the Green Circle near Zenoff Park and the Sculpture Park will be closed for repairs until early August. Please follow the signed detour through the Sculpture Park. For more information, contact the Stevens Point Parks Department at 715-346-1531.
Trail detour: roundabout construction this summer
Portion of trail closed in Village of Whiting
A short section of the Green Circle in the Village of Whiting that parallels Babcock St. is now permanently closed. The new connector route follows the sidewalk on Whiting Rd. Direction signs have been posted. Click the map below for details.
This is the first phase of an exciting project that will reroute about 1.2 miles of the Green Circle from a sidewalk to a scenic corridor along the Wisconsin River on the former Whiting Paper Mill land (west side of Whiting Rd). We hope to have the new route completed by Fall of 2018.
Trail detour in Village of Whiting
A section of Green Circle trail will be closed in the Village of Whiting, Mondays-Thursdays from August 21 to September 7 for utility work. Please follow signs along Tommy’s Turnpike to detour this section. Note, the trail will remain open on the weekends.

New kiosk in Zenoff Park
A new Green Circle kiosk is being constructed in Zenoff Park at the southeast corner of the parking lot. Mark Check, stone mason, is constructing the base out of local stone and bricks, some from the historic Langenberg brickyard for which the Brickyard Trail is named.
