The Paper Mill Walking Trail is an alternate route that bypasses the eastern portion of the main Paper Mill Trail. Instead of roads, this hiking trail follows the Plover River on woodchip trails through forested mill lands. It offers scenic views of the wide river, access to a cattail marsh, and quiet opportunities for wildlife watching. There is also a railroad crossing about halfway through the trail.

The trail is accessed just over of the bridge at the intersection of the Paper Mill and Mainland Meadows Trails in the east, and where the Paper Mill Trail intersects Whiting Road in the west.

The Legacy of Paper Mills
This section of trail runs through lands owned by the Neenah Paper Company. Like the nearby NewPage Mill, the Neenah Paper Whiting Mill was originally built by George A. Whiting.  Today the mill produces premium paper. Click here for more information about Whiting and his mills.
